Daycare Center

            My final paper for English, I wrote about childcare or daycare center.  After decided that I wanted to focus on teaching career and teaching Elementary School, I figured that I will have to handle kid under the age of 12.  There is tons of research had been done about children but what about asking from someone who been experienced for so long.  My answer is the childcare or daycare center.

            The childcare or daycare center is the only place where they handle with children that from different background.  A daycare is not like a lab will they conduct research but a place where they nurture kid.  I believe that nurture a child will lead you to understand them and see the children develop their mind as they grown up.  By gaining that knowledge, I can use it toward teaching kid in the near future.

              As I walk into the Learning Tree Center to meet with Ann Gutoski the Director.  I can see that it is not easy to handle children especially a diverse.  But a kid is always a kid and one basic rule is they do enjoy the same thing.  For example, kids love to sing song like BINGO, London Bride, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and etc. singing those songs seen to calm them down and taking their mind off.  Kids like to imagination things, a good song will make they think positive and draw into their happy mood.

            Teaching children under the age of 12 is very important.  Whether the child being placed at the childcare center or at home, the early years of their life must be surrounding by good role modeling, loving and caring. What they learned will impact their future life.  With a good start from daycare and preschool, will make a teacher teaching way more easier.  . 

Happy Mother's Day

Today is Mother’s Day, a day we wanted to say I love you Mom, a day we honor our Mom, a day we and the world celebrated who are Mom or motherhood.  People from different culture will celebrate Mother’s Day differently but we all do it on the same day.  For my family, we the kids decide to have our mom to be relaxation day.  We make our usual food, Khoob Poob (Curry Chicken Noodle), my mom favor food. 

My mom is the best mom in the world in a lot of different ways.  As far I can remember she had been take good care of me and all my siblings, the day we born to these day. My mom priority job was to keep us safe and giving love and caring.  My mom always been there for when, no matter when we sick or not, my mom stood by us like the shadow.

My mom had taught me almost everything I know. One thing my mom taught was not to be a lazy person.  As I grown up, she taught me how to cook and clean so that one day I can do all by myself. She always helps me through my toughest time.  My mom gave up her time to walk me through my toughest time.   

My mom is amazing and I just don't thank her enough for everything she done.  For this Mother’s Day, all I can say is I love you, Mom.  Even the delicious food we make today cannot compare to what my mom done for me and my siblings.  To me, my mom is the world greatest hero and the best teacher I could ever have.  I love you mom, Happy Mother’s Day.

What is Life?

Sitting at my desk stared at the tree through the window in my room with the beautiful sun ray, makes me wonder about Life.  Question like what is life….what is important in life….and so on.  To me life is beautiful and the most precious thing on earth.  From nature to human, life are the most beautiful and precious living things.  Think back when we first saw a new born baby, beautiful is the first word appears in our mind.

What is Life is no answer to it.  What we think is what we know about life.  One individual have their own opinions to the meaning of Life.  As we all know this quote, “Life is too short, make it worthwhile”.  To define Life is to understand our needs and our value in life.  Even scientist had hard time to define what is Life but one thing that science had discover is that in every form of Life, its take some source of energy to survive.

It is obvious that Life is hard to define.  Life is a general term of word; in this case definition is varying from one to another.  In a culture or religious belief, Life had spirit and it connected to the spirit word.  But in science, every living thing is cellular.  There just too many meaning and define the word Life.

As I mentioned earlier, in my view, I see Life as the most beautiful thing on earth.   Things that are so beautiful to us become what are precious to us.  So Life is precious and we loved it and will protect it.  This is only my point of view, just how sees and wanted to live life the way I see it best fit.  What is Life, I don’t really know.

Academic Sucess Factor

             When we entered High School, many of us had not decided what we wanted to do after we graduate.   Without knowing what we wanted, we cannot determine the factor that will help us to go beyond high school.  One thing that we will always be remembered is to be success in academic.  The day we learned how to talk, we already are taught by our parents that academic success is the key to our future.   Parents had been a major role or major factor in student academic success.  That is probably one or maybe the only reason why there is parents and teacher conference every school year.

Family support had helps and motivation student to do their best toward academic.  From a family that English is not our native language, it is hard to received help from my parents.  The wisdom and courage of words from my parents is the only support my parents can assist me.  They always compared the different between the life in Thailand and United States.  Back in Thailand, we have to do farming in order to gain food and now education is the key to have a successful life.  Family support is essential to student’s academic success.

To secure the student bright future, parent’s aspect is keep up and follow up their academic success with their teacher.  Many parents used private lesson such as music or dance to discover their kids’ talent.  Self-discipline is another powerful source to be academic success.  As I mentioned earlier, my parents are non-English speaking but they are good and supportive parents.  As I grown up, self-discipline had taught and passed to me from my parents.  With self-discipline, I gained the power to overcome distraction and pace myself to be active with school.  

High School success is the first step to move forward toward Academic Success.  They like the pillar to the family as well as the country in the near future.  Taking care teenagers’ problems and finding solution is a must and top priority to family.  With family support and self-discipline one can success in high school.  Being successful in high school will lead them to be successful in their next journey.

How Movie Affect Our Life

            We watched a movie because we love the actor, actress or sometime we just watch to kill time or because it’s our genre of movie.  Have we ever wondered the good or bad effect on people via movie?  People had their own opinions toward the affected by how the movie or television industry influences their life.  Some used the movie as a motivation or to find their own self but some believed that movie had media that mislead their life or had damaged their lives.

            Through movie and television, we can learn from things that never thought impossible.  For example, we or the scientist believed there is life existed beyond planet Earth.  Who would know how alien looks like or there is really Martian live in the planet Mars.  From watching a movie about aliens, we may gain useful information and knowledge about other life form beside the human and keep our eyes and ears open in case we might encounter by chance.

            While we gained information via movie and television, we still may suffer some important drawback.  Movie or television do get addicted and then we will spend time after times watch a movie or television without realized other important that we had to do.  I love drama series and cannot stop myself until I had finished all the episodes.  To finish the entire series, I had to sacrifice my time for homework and study.  Not only I have to lose my time of study or doing homework, I also shorten my time to sleep.

Through the media in television or movie had provides the pros and cons to our daily life. It is our choice to pick what genre and what we wanted to learn via movie or television.  Just like how the commercial TV convinces us to buy the product because we believe exactly like they believed.  Either way, the main purpose in the movie or television industry is to provide us the entertainment and taking our mind off so we relax and release our stress.  With the rated of the movie, we can judge the movie and either to watch or not, it is our choice.

Competition

Competition…competition…have you ever wonder why we must have to compete?  Either we compete with someone or sometime with our own self.  I felt that doesn’t matter what, competition always stay side by side with us.  Many of us are fear competition because we might lose to other or we not as good as other. Matter of fact, we are competed with ourselves each day.  Everyday we going to our class or school, we challenge ourselves to the next level.  Even playing video game, we sometime play against our highest score.

In fact, competition it’s a great thing to every of us.  Without competition we would never live in a life full adventure.  When we had sets a new standard, we do get recognition from everyone from families to friends and from teachers to students.  Then we inspired our brothers and sisters, they wanted to surpass our standard and be recognized by us.  Through competition, we trained to be smarter, more accelerator and better at what we do.

In reality competition is nothing more than test what we learned.  We went to school and graduate from college with a degree then we apply for job and many will also apply for the same job too.  Our work or career will be our battle ground where we meet people who are think that there is probably other who are way more qualify.

Through competition and pushing ourselves forward, new solution will comes to our ways; it does not end when everyone is beaten.  Competition bring us together not to beat each other but to learn and share individual ideas.  In a competition there is never be a perfect competitor.  We compete to producing the maximum of goods and services and make correction to our mistake.

Controversy of Global Warming

For a while I wanted to write about global warming but somehow I can't really think of anything related to global warming.  I guessed it doesn't really matter if global warming will affect me or not.  To many people global warming is a cause to their daily life.  Living in Wisconsin, the climate is varying from year to year.  After this past winter season, make me wondered is that really cause by global warming. I though supposedly the temperature had been increasing year after year and that why we had less snow for the last couple years.  This year in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois got hit by snow storm really bad compared to other year. Many schools, works, and airports are closed and even the roof of Metro Dome in Minneapolis, MN is collapsed due too much of snow. 

            I believed what I heard or learned is that global warming caused the winter season to be less snow.  The last couple years, I do believe that maybe the rising of climate temperature is affected the snow so that we didn't have that much of snow.  However this past winter, I felt like weekend after weekend is snowing and shoveling snow.  It is funny how small I am and by the time we got done with shoveled snow, my brother were looked for me because I got block by the huge and tall pile of snow.  It's a day of school close but also a day of shoveling snow.

            According to the Wikipedia, the global warming controversy is a variety of disputes regarding the nature, causes, and consequences of global warming.  Many people believed that we, the human have caused the global warming.  I don't really know if that really true or not but I do hear via radio station announced about carpool or taking city bus to go green.  I supposed big city like Milwaukee or Chicago, where there is a lot of people mean a lot of driving car.  Every car out on the street will release the emission or CO2 into the atmosphere and will contribute the climate change.

            Even if it is true that human are the cause of global warming, scientist always believe that where there is a problem, there is a solution to it.  As of today, there are more and more products about being green.  I remember my first computer, I bought, nothing about saving energy or going green.  Now almost every computer from desktop to laptop, there will be symbol like 'energy saving' and light bulbs are being replaced by the new and improvement of saving energy bulb.   For our daily life needs it, we can't prevent global warming but we can change by participate and taking the tips that our great scientists had discovered.

What Is Education?

As I was searched in the field of being an Elementary School teacher, I emphasized that “Education” is to cultivate our culture.  Through education we learned basic skills, academics, technical, discipline, and being a good citizenship.  In school, our teachers taught the value of understanding the knowledge that we gained as we learn each day.  Understanding the value of knowledge is the gap in between the teachers and students.  To fill the gap the teachers and students must find their inspirations, images of creativity and motivation to expand our eyes and mind in a ways we all can see it together.

Many scientists such as Einstein and Newton succeeded their research due to their collected information for their subject and process according to their knowledgeable. I believed that the key factor to their success is their motivation of finding the answer to an unknown.  Scientists always had this quote like a bible to them “Every problems, there a solution to it.”  Teaching is not like rock and science but the method or process can always be apply to all fields.

As a fellow student myself, my motivation are from my interested of learning new things and my teachers (the ways he/she presents to their knowledge to the subject).  My teachers always to get good grade, all you need are listened to words and finish you homework as assign.  I remember sometime I complete my homework and the result is not correct my teacher will always get me credit point out my mistakes.  A good example is Math, there is more one ways to solve a problem and one mistake will not get you the right answer.  That is my motivation of learning from taking my teacher as role model to me and us students.  I felt that my teacher is here to teach what he/she loves.

Education by itself cannot contain any values but with students and teachers involved, the value of education is existed.  How they strung together determines the level of value.  In the education system, teacher will supply the knowledge to us and our job is to memorize them.   A love to learn must be implant to individuals; inspiration and motivation must give by both sides of the party in order to cultivate.  Test must be giving to test not just the student strength but the strength of teacher too. This is the culture we must cultivate as teacher and student.

Shen Yun Performing Arts

Today I had the chance to watch, what they called “A performance 5000 year in the making with heavenly music, enchanted landscapes, breathtaking dance, timeless legend, one unforgettable show and experience the extraordinary,” by Shen Yun Performing Arts.  Shen Yun was born in 2006 and located in New York.  The meaning of Shen Yun is about the grace, compassion, and sublime beauty of heavenly realms that are shown through the subtlest expressions and gestures of our dancer.  Shen Yun was here in Milwaukee, WI today (March 13, 2011) to show and expressed the Chinese’s culture through their art of dancing from the ancient time to the modern time at the Marcus Performance Center.

            There is total of 21 programs or dances such as: When kings followed the creator to the Earth, Recalling the great Qin, The Monkey King outwits Pigsy, the Opening of Heaven’s Gates, and many more.  Each performances or dances represented its own time and meaning to the Chinese’s culture.  The costumes and music were gorgeous with bright colors, and extraordinary music throughout the hall as the lights was off.  The music was combined with western instruments such as the violent and the Chinese instruments such as pipa to give us the glorious and excitement to the audience with their dance. 

The background was digital design with computer graphic to provide extraordinary of beauty of the landscape of China.  Each background was design to go along each theme of the dance.  With the brilliant color of the costumes and the digital background plus the glorious of music, I cannot help but keep my eyes and ears open the whole the time.  There is happy story to sad story but even in a sad story, it will end with happy. 

I do enjoyed watch every Shen Yun performing.  I remembered watched the opening (When Kings followed the Creator to the Earth), I was so surprised by bright color of the costumes and the dances and even more surprised when they took off the stage and seeing them flying to heaven  on the background screen.  I was also so amazed how the transition from one dancer changing his modern clothes to the army of Qin armor in split second.  The dance called Little Mischievous Monks was a joking theme and so funny and everyone was laughing and enjoyed the little monks playing trick with their teacher.  I would love to watch Shen Yun again and looked forward for their next year in Milwaukee again. 

Hard Time

I’ve been thinking for a while and nothing could come up in my mind.  It seem that the more I think the more I confused and losing my mind.  Sometime I wonder does time played a role in our daily life.  They always said, sometime it takes time and sometime taking too much time are not good.  I assumed that times were hard not just us adults but also to children too. 

            Think back when I am still a little kid, all I know is play and had fun because that is how I used my time.  I never realized that every second is count and the time isn’t easy to manage.  From sunrise to sunset, the time cannot stop, no matter what I do; it felt so hard to control the time.  With just fun and playing on my mind, stopping or freeze time is what I thought that struggle back when I was a kid. 

            Now that I am all grown, I am facing the same struggle the Time.  Many times I asked myself what do I learned in school today, I was like it is a hard time for me. Imagine putting ourselves where struggle comes in four sides, we were man this is hard.  But when someone asking how is going, we were most likely reply hard time due to the struggle we had.

When was just a kid, we never to wonder the hard time, all we can think I don’t want the sun to set, I still wanted run around and enjoy the sun.  As we grown older, we strived for perfection and many times we struggle and felt that is the hardest time we ever face.  Time is time, hard is hard, just simple word that put together get us strong meaning and put ourselves in tiny spot.  Time does play a role in our daily life and we just don’t let the hard and time come together.  Let us manage and use the time instant of letting time control and become hard as we struggle.

The Difference between High School and College

I remember back in High School, every day is the same routine, same class throughout the school year.  In college class are separated into two sections: (1) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, (2) Tuesday and Thursday.  On standard or average length of class, Mon, Wed, and Fri class are usually fifty minutes long and Tues and Thurs class are about hour and fifteen minutes.  Instant going the same class every day, the class will be every other day.  One common about High School and College grade are count.  In High School, the grade count toward the attending College and in College, the grade count toward your future career.

            High School and College are still two different worlds.  High School like you are not adult and everything will have to deal with either your parents or guidance.  In High School, it is mandatory to attend and free unless it’s a private school.  Everything were arranged and prepared for you in order for you to graduate in the amount of times.  Parents or guidance will be involved in order for teacher to understand about their students and teach them in a way they will understand.  Everything must be approved by parents or guidance in order for student to participate in extracurricular activities either during or after school.

            While we in College, we no longer a teen, we can make our decision either to go college or not to go.  Only our families and friends will concern rather we decide to go or not to go college.  I remembered, my professor always say, “You no longer kid, you are adult and it is your choice to learn and pass my class.”  I guess as an adult, we must learn to manage our time and take responsibility to our action.  In College it’s no longer mandatory but voluntary to go and we must find a way to financially support ourselves. We can set or arrange our class schedule according to our fitment and either going on a fast pace or slow pace are all up to individual decision.

            When talking school, I do miss my High School time.  Everything was well prepared by our counselor and our teachers.  But on the other hands, in College, we still had our counselor whom is helping giving advices and checking our progress status.  Just similar to High School, our counselor will answer any questions toward our future plan and help us to prepare the needs.  There is a lot difference between High School and College but all its matter is the same attitude we had in High School will be the major key factor to our success.

Cell Phone

Today technology so advance that had helped shapes our life in so many ways.  One major invention was the cell phone.   Every time travel, I feel safer when I got my cell phone with me, it's just making more convenient and easier to place phone calls. In the situation of emergency, someone can reach me through my cell phone or make a phone call when I needing.   I believed that everyone cannot live without their cell phone as of today.  Cell phone had become part of daily life like the gasoline.    

Cell phone was invented back in the early 1920s and as of 2011, cell phone were the dominated in the telecommunication world.  I heard that even middle school students had their own cell phone.  Cell phone not just influences our college students and our parents’ life but also the younger generations.  I remember back in my day, the only way to communicate with my friends and family are either the house phone or email. Even with the internet, email takes days to receive it back and one must check daily to get quick response due to there is no notification like cell phone.        

Cell phone not only replaced voice communication but also replace our mailing message or email.  Texting used cell phone being so popular that every provider service offered unlimited texting.  At the end of each month, I am checking my texting message and were over 2000 texting messages.  Imagine no unlimited texting, 2000 text messages were cost approximate $400.        

Now I can go anywhere and would not fear of getting lost or search place like restaurants, shopping mall, address, etc.  Cell phone these days is called smart phone like the Apple Iphone or android phone like the Droid phone; these phones offer a full feature of the internet and web browser and GPS.  Whenever my friends and I went out, we can easily search for a place using google map in our phone to search place that we want to go and the nearest location to us.  There is also an app called yelp.com for all the smart phones, this app provides full service and information for restaurants and shopping places.  Cell phone is like eyes and ears to us.

My doing by the weekend

What am I doing this weekend and that can be help me to research or make a more look good at my interview of a subculture paper through? There are three steps that I have to make when I was writing and talk with him about the paper again. First I call him and we talk little bit about him and the job. Second, I started write my paper and its first draft by the week day. And I be come to make more questing for him and he answered that let he come visit me then we will talk about more the question I have in mind. Finally, he came visit me and then we talk fact by fact. I had invited my friend Tou to come to talk with me at my house.

He came visit me on the Saturday and we started talking about the job then I started ask him the question I have in my mind. My first question is asking that what is his job and where he work. He works as a Screen Printer. His job was to print logo that number, message, image, and etc.., onto the t-shirt, hoody, jersey, bags, jacket, short and pants. So his primary job was to print those numbers onto jersey such as basketball, soccer, football, and sometime hoody, tee shirt and short.  Then my second ask him about what is the important of his job to him and what type of his job that (manufacture, factory or store. Then he said that are their primary task was to print jersey for sports team. His work or job is not a company or factory job. But they consider as a retail store just like Wal-Mart or Best Buy except that they are not open to customer to come in because to customize jersey or shirt will take time to process.

The third question for me to ask that what is making his relationship between the co-workers, lead, and supervisor. He said that to be able to perform his best on any task that he must have good connection or relationship between the people as he work with. He believes that he have good connection to all the co-workers and his boss. He would like to enjoy working everyday and always doing his best on any task. Finally, his answer for me that I realize that even too many stuff go through, but he learns a lot of things from the job as he was working. So now he likes on the top game but of course he start does felt a lot of stress, but as the time goes by then he seem like endless for himself. He sure about the job that he had from all the time now.

Well, after I done interview with him for the day then I very feel like that this screen printer job was helpfully to him and also for many out there too.  I can realize that I do get along with everyone in the job too. When we talk to each other by the time I was interview him. Therefore, I don’t really know anything about this screen printer job before I will invite him came to visit and I interview him but after I had done with some question then its sound like give lots interest to me. I can image that he is a good working. However, He doesn’t have any good education or any knowledge for helping this job but he can learn by the way he still work along with this job to be successful.
